  • Anonymizer - This site is great if you want to gather market intelligence without letting anyone know who you are. It acts as a buffer between you and the sites you visit. The sites you visit have no idea who you are, because your site address is replaced with that of the Anonymizer.
  • Bartlett's Familiar Quotations  - Search for quotations by subject or author
  • Critical Evaluation Skills  - Here they show you what to look for when you are visiting sites. Sites are classified into 5 categories: Advocacy, Business/Marketing, Informational, News, and Personal. In the Business/Marketing category, they offer an evaluation checklist which defines Authority, Accuracy, Objectivity, Currency, and Coverage.
  • Elements of Style  - A book presenting rules for good English composition
  • Roget's Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases - Search for synonyms and expressions for a word
  • SEARCH ENGINE WATCH - Excellent information about all areas related to search engines, from design to use; how to operate them to how to get the best results. Webmasters may be interested in paying $20 for a higher level of detail
  • Web Concordances  - A concordance is "a comprehensive index of words used in a text or a body of texts". This concordance happens to be used for literary studies. Because the index shows all usage of a word, the concordance may be used to compare contexts to gain insight into meanings. It may be useful for legal and philosophical studies, as well as finding cross-references in intranet and in research activities.
  • Web Dictionary - Contains: Dictionaries and Encyclopedias, English Language Dictionaries, Foreign Language Dictionaries, Subject Dictionaries, Collections of Dictionaries, Thesauri, and Translators Encyclopedias, English Language Dictionaries Cambridge  -- when a search engine doesn't work, try this. The Vital Records webpage - The Vital Records webpage contains information about where to 

obtain vital records (such as birth, death & marriage certificates and divorce decrees) from each state, territory and county of the United States.  Also available are the guidelines for information on how to order vital records. Uncle Sam.com - This website contains fantastic collections of the best statistical sources - the essential sites for accessing more data than you ever imagined available or perhaps necessary. Uncle Sam's greatest asset is its compilation of statistical information on literally every subject under the sun, from jobs and careers to health and nutrition to census demographics.
FedStats - as of this time it has improved their search engine to search 28 federal agency databases. Beside being improved it seems to be much fast.
Search Sites  - If you want to search something about people, business, or even advanced search, etc.
OneLook Dictionaries -  If you need a quick definition of a word don't go paging through that heavy dictionary in your bookcase. Just type in your word at this page, and in seconds you'll get a definition for it. This site indexes 472 online dictionaries (to see which ones, click on "Browse Dictionary List")

Acronym Finder - has 124,500 acronyms/abbreviations & their meanings. This is a searchable database containing common acronyms and abbreviations on all subjects, with a focus on computers, technology, telecommunications, and the military. A search on NET returned 14 acronyms alone.
